In our experience, the gold rush stood out as a specific theme this year. With strong prices driving exploration, companies are investing more in gold projects and exploring modern technologies to optimize their analytical processes. A standout topic was Photon Assay, which continues to attract interest from teams seeking rapid turnaround, non-destructive workflows, and a safer, more environmentally friendly approach to sample analysis. Discussions often focused on a specific question: how can we deliver high-quality results efficiently while keeping both people and the environment safe?
Alongside high-tech tools and gold-driven strategies, responsibility and sustainability were also a central topic. Discussions around NIMBY (not in my backyard), community expectations, and the social licence to operate highlighted how critical it is for companies to engage openly and transparently.
We heard more conversations than ever about integrating ESG considerations into sampling strategies, reporting practices, and on-site operations. Sustainability is no longer a side topic as it’s now shaping decision-making across the entire value chain.
Over in our usual cosy spot in the C Hall, the quieter atmosphere proved to be a real advantage. Away from the busiest corridors, visitors had time to dive into deeper discussions over a piece of chocolate (as tradition demands).
This year, we showcased:
FEM 2025 confirmed what we already sensed: the industry is moving toward smarter technologies, higher-quality data, and more responsible practices. We’re looking forward to what comes next.
